The Jets host the defending Stanley Cup Champs in what will be another Wednesday night game, featuring two of the top snipers in the NHL. Ovechkin, with 12 goals, and Laine with 8 goals, find themselves near the top of the goal scoring lead (Pastrnak leads with 16). We will get to see them likely spend plenty of time in their respective “offices” at the top of the circle.
The Jets are coming off a couple of commanding victories. Outscoring their opponents 10-4 over their two games since returning from Finland. Maybe we are finally seeing the Jets from last season. They have dominated for long stretches of games, albeit against lesser opposition, but it’s a good start. Tonight’s game against Washington will maybe be some kind of measuring stick as to where the team is and what we should expect to see with this lineup.
Nic Petan is someone that we should be keeping an eye, I always have. But he has looked great the last few games, and is now approaching the 100 game mark for his NHL career. He needs to start producing, with the way he’s playing and finally playing with decent skill, the points will follow. His underlying stats when playing with offensive skills are fairly good, which would lead most to believe that if he gets ice time he will succeed.
Connor Hellebuyck will make the start, and I believe it will be Holtby between the pipes for Washington. Tom Wilson fresh off his suspension will be in his 2nd game after making his season debut last night.
Expected Jets lineup.
