After flaming out in the first period Wednesday, and falling in a wild third period yesterday, the Jets will look to avoid getting a case of the Blues tonight in St. Louis. (Yes I went there)
Laurent Brossoit will look to get the Jets back on their regular flight plan tonight, he last played Wednesday coming in for a rattler Connor Hellebuyck 11 minutes into the 6-3 loss against the Flames. Since it was 3-1 when he entered he took the loss, his first regulation loss as a Jet. Sorry, Laurent. The Jets have now blown 4 third period leads this season, probably something they should consider fixing. Maybe play a different, younger, faster, defencman? Just a thought of course.
Patrik Laine has been on fire as of late, scoring 6 goals in the past 3 games, another random stat, heading into yesterday the Jets were 4-0 when he scored the opening goal, make it 4-1 now. As I expected his production has gone up as of late, playing with line mates that suit him helps, that and regression, the good kind.
Of not for the Jets tonight, Sami Niku will be eating popcorn once shine, he hasn’t played a hockey game since November 10th with the Moose. Brendan Lemieux will draw in for Andrew Copp, who was concussed against the Wild. Lemieux will play with Petan and Roslovic, while Perreault will take Copp’s spot with Lowry and Tanev. This will be Lemieux’s first game since the second game in Finland, a game in which he cost his team a victory.
Since we last met St. Louis, they have changed coaches, Mike Yeo was replaced by Craig Berube. The Blues are 1-1 since the change. Apparently Berube wants the Blues to be aggressive, hopefully the Jets will be able to avoid retaliation penalties, and take advantage of the potential powerplays that may arise.
Time will tell where the Jets are, but right now they need to figure out what’s going on in their own end, the offence is there, but the goalies have not had much support.
