In what will be the final audition before the regular season, a few roster battles remain. Lemieux, Dano, and Vesalainen, appear to be battling it out for the final roster spot. Of course, I believe Lemieux has the inside track, because grit, sandpaper, whatever. He is not a bad hockey player, he just needs to not be stupid, not take dumb temper penalties, fight, any of that useless stuff. Marko Dano hurt himself last night against Minnesota by taking a poor penalty and being invisible for the entire game. Vesalainen did score, and has looked great this pre-season, I do see him making the roster and play his 9 games before his ELC kicks in, with his 9th game being one (or both) of the games in Finland. (Games 13 and 14 for the Jets) Obviously it is all just what I see, and nothing can be known, especially with our coach…
Connor Hellebuyck will get the start. Roslovic will remain at centre, as Maurice wants to play this out until the very end. Dano and Vesalainen will be on his wings. Little will be in between Matty Perreault and Laine. Lemieux will play on the fourth line with Griffeth and McKenzie. The top line will be the same old, Scheif, Wheels, and Connor.
Niku and Poolman will pair up in D, along with Trouba and JoMo. Joe Morrow will play alongside Tyler Myers. The defence is such a mess for the Jets, the player who are waiver exempt are better than the players who require waivers, I wouldn’t be hurt to see Morrow or Chiarot go, but it probably won’t happen, at least to start the season.
Taylor Hall and Nico Hischier will suit up for the Devils, Keith Kinkaid is expected to start. Winnipegger Travis Zajac will also play.
